Abstract:
A technique for predicting reservoir porosity from seismic data is shown. Integration of reflection seismic data with well measurements of the porosity is based, in contrast to traditional seismically assisted porosity mapping techniques, on the use of spatial autocorrelation and crosscorrelation functions: this allows a detailed reconstruction of the lateral variations of the reservoir properties. This approach is tested on a simulated model and its results, compared with standard kriging of well data only, show a significant improvement in the spatial description of porosity.
