Detecting, modelling and reserve estimating of manganese ore bodies via microgravity data

V.E. Ardestani

Abstract:

A microgravity survey was carried out for detecting, modelling and estimating the reserve of a manganese ore body in an area with a hilly topography close to Zereshloo village in the NW of Iran. An outcrop of ore body exists in the area and the data were collected in a network around the outcrop. The data was reduced and processed by standard techniques and software. A 3D inversion package was applied for modelling and estimating the reserve of the ore body. To confirm the 3D inversion results, several bore-holes were drilled in the area. The 3D inversion results of depth and density contrast of the main anomaly were confirmed by the bore-holes.
